The first phase of the House Listing and Housing Census under the Census 2027 exercise will commence across West Tripura district from August 1st and continue until August 30. The self-enumeration process will be completed by the midnight of July 31.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Additional District Magistrate and District Census Officer of West Tripura district Atit Kumar Das said the district administration has completed all necessary preparations for the field-level enumeration work.
He informed that 954 enumerators and 170 supervisors have been engaged for the exercise. The census will cover the blocks of Mohanpur, Bamutia, Lefunga, Hezamara, Mandai, Jirania, Old Agartala, Belbari and Tulashikhar, along with Mohanpur Municipal Council, Ranirbazar Municipal Council and Jirania Municipal Council. A total of 879 Enumeration Blocks (EBs) have been created to cover a population of approximately 6.14 lakh.
The Additional District Magistrate said enumerators and supervisors will begin household visits from August 1. Using the House Listing mobile application, they will collect information on 33 data fields from each household. To ensure smooth implementation, 29 batches of training have been conducted for enumerators and supervisors. Four batches have also been organized for District Level Master Trainers, while two District Level Master Trainers and 22 District Level Field Trainers have been deployed for the exercise.
He further stated that all enumerators and supervisors have been provided with identity cards, kits and training materials. Residents can seek assistance or register complaints by calling the Census Helpline at 1855. Local help desks have also been set up in every block and urban local body to assist the public during the enumeration process.
Das also announced that the second phase of the Census 2027, involving population enumeration, is scheduled to begin in February 2027. The press conference was attended by Deputy Collector Swadesh Debbarma and assistant project director Bipul Karmakar, among other officials.
