Housewife’s decomposed body recovered after 15 days of murder, husband, two other arrested

In a sensational icnident, police have recovered the decomposed body of a 45-year-old housewife on Tuesday, who had gone missing from near the Belonia CMO office under South Tripura district.
Police sources said that the deceased woman was identified as Konika alias Kona Debnath Das. Kona’s daughter, Preeti Debnath, had lodged a missing complaint at the Belonia women police station and finally, after 14 days, on Tuesday morning, police recovered the decomposed body from deep inside the forest of Kashari area under Jatrapur police station of Sepahijala district.
Police sources added that the woman had been missing since the evening of July 28.
According to police sources, she was murdered. On charges of murder, police arrested Dolon Das—who had contested as a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate in the last municipal election—and Mohammad Miah. The police also arrested the housewife’s husband, Raju Das.
Sources added that the accused husband, Raju paid Dolon Rs50,000 to kill his wife Kona. Dolon Das (28) is from Ram Thakur Para in Belonia, while Mohammad Miah (35) is from Muslim Para in Rajnagar. Dolon was acquainted with the victim earlier. By making a phone call, they lured her out of her house and took her to the forest in Kashari. There, Mohammad Miah confessed to slitting Kona’s throat from behind with a meat-cutting cleaver.
Police by tracking the phone locations arrested Raju Das, Dolon Das, and Mohammad Miah on Monday night. After preliminary interrogation, all suspects identified the crime scene on Monday night and police informed Kona’s daughter, Preeti, to identify her body in presence of a forensic team.
On Tuesday morning, police recovered Kona’s body and informed a forensic expert team.
