Huge quantities of dry Ganja seized, three peddlers arrested
Based on secret information, in two separate operations security forces have recovered huge quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) and arrested three persons including two youths from Bihar state.
Police sources said that based on secret information, a joint contingent of police personnel from Jatrapur police station of Sepahijala district and BSF personnel raided the house of one suspected drug smuggler, Abhijit Paul at Bashpukur village under the same police force in the wee hours of Wednesday.
During a search operation at the house of Abhijit Paul, police and BSF jawans recovered 358 kilograms of dry Ganja, hidden in different locations of the house and arrested him.
Giving details, OC of Jatrapur police station Subrata Debnath said that seized Ganja worth about Rs. 1.5 crore, is the largest seizure by Jatrapur police station in recent times and arrested smuggler under a specific case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and forwarded him before a local court for further legal proceedings.
In another operation, police personnel from Assam state, posted at Churaibari gate arrested two youths from Bihar state, who were clandestinely storing 5 kilograms of dry Ganja inside their bodies. When, both youths identified as Sourav Kumar and Tufani Paswan travelled a night super bus from Agartala to Guwahati. When the bus after the last point of Tripura border reached Churaibari area of Assam portion, police in the course of search operation in the bus detained both suspected youths.
After body search, Assam police recovered a total of 5 kilograms of dry cannabis hidden inside their bodies and arrested both drug peddlers.
