International fake currency racket: Three youths arrested from bordering Kailashahar
Three youths with counterfeit notes of Indian currency were arrested from bordering Srinathpur area of Unakoti district of Tripura on Sunday.
Police sources said that based on intelligence inputs, police personnel from Irani police station of Kailashahar subdivision of Unakoti district laid a trap at Srinathpur area to detain suspected persons involved with a big racket of fake Indian currency.
Based on the information, police detained three suspected youths from an auto-rickshaw, which was moving towards Kailashahar town.
During the body search of these suspected three youths , police recovered a total of Rs. 10,500 of fake Indian currency with denomination of Rs. 500.
Police added that arrested youths were identified as Mihot Miah, Aktar Ali and Sayan Ali of Babur Bazar area of Kailashahar and were given the task to spread these fake currencies in Indian markets by their Bangladeshi agents.
Police added that the arrested trios were produced before a local court with police remand appeals under different sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for interrogation.
Police hoped that during interrogation of arrested youths, they would be able to unearth the nexus of Indian youths with Bangladeshi smugglers, involved with a fake currency network.
