Longtharai Spices director felicitated at Bangiya Sangeet Parishad’s convocation
At the state-level annual convocation of the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad 2025 in a solemn and aesthetic atmosphere, the first session of the convocation held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Sunday , which was graced by eminent educationist Dr. Debabrata Debroy and noted Rabindra Sangeet artist Rita Chakraborty as special honored guests.
Both speakers highlighted the extraordinary role of music in the mental and physical development of children. A welcome address was delivered by Shyamal Ganguly, a member of the central committee of the Parishad. In this session, certificates of recognition were distributed to students who passed the fifth and seventh-year levels from the districts of Khowai, Gomati, South Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, and North Tripura.
The second session of the convocation was particularly captivating. It was inaugurated by Swapna Som, Principal of Bhavans Tripura Vidyamandir. Among the guests were Ratan Debnath, Director of Longtharai Group of Industries, and renowned visual artist Tapati Bhowmik Majumdar. Following the tradition of Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, a felicitation was extended to Ratan Debnath, a prominent entrepreneur of the state and Director of Longtharai Group of Industries. In a grand presentation, he was welcomed on stage with the song and dance performance of Rabindranath Tagore’s "Eso Amar Ghore Eso," along with various traditional rituals.
Later, his exceptional contributions to Tripura’s trade and commerce were acknowledged through the presentation of a citation and a special crest. His continued support for art and culture was also repeatedly mentioned during the felicitation. In his speech, Ratan Debnath expressed gratitude to the organizers and said that to become a complete human being, children must be introduced to cultural activities from an early age. He remarked that being present at the event made him realize this even more deeply. He also emphasized that there is no substitute for hard work and dedicated this honor to his colleagues and the people of Tripura.
In their speeches, Swapna Som and Tapati Bhowmik Majumdar shared their personal experiences in the field of education with the students. Anupam Chowdhury and Bandana Nandi, distinguished members of the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, were also specially honored during the session. The session was presided over by noted Rabindra Sangeet artist Nirmal Dev, who in his address urged parents to reconsider the rising issue of dropouts in music education.
In this session, certificates were distributed among the students from West Tripura. Across both sessions, around 800 students received their certificates. On this occasion, cultural performances were presented by young talents and artists from ‘Natun Kuri’ and Bhavans Kala Kendra.
