The East Agartala police station has achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation into the Chittaranjan theft case, recovering around 50 grams of molten gold on Tuesday, believed to be part of the stolen items and have also arrested three thieves, involved with the stolen incident.
As the investigation progresses, police are uncovering new information related to the theft. However, preliminary investigation suggests that several more people may be linked to the incident.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) East Agartala police station, Krishnadhan Sarkar said that more people could be involved in the theft and that efforts are underway to identify and trace them.
Of the three persons arrested in connection with the case, two are currently in judicial custody, while another is being interrogated after being taken into police remand. Through the interrogation, police are trying to gather crucial information about where the stolen items were kept, who else was involved and the activities of the suspected network, said OC.
The recovery of approximately 50 grams of molten gold is being viewed as an important lead in the investigation. Police are continuing efforts to recover the remaining stolen articles and identify and arrest the other persons allegedly involved in the case.
Sarkar also said that the investigation into the Chittaranjan theft case is still underway. While further details have not been disclosed in the interest of the investigation, police indicated that more arrests and recovery of additional stolen items may follow as the probe progresses.
