Making Nasha Mukt Tripura a reality: Assam Rifles seize Ganja worth Rs. 10 cr
The narcotics smuggling in Tripura seems to have hit a dead end with multiple successive operations being carried out against it by Security Forces and sister agencies. In a major crackdown Assam Rifles along with Customs Dept successfully seized 2286.9 kg of Ganja (marijuana) from general area Bejoynagar, West Tripura district on Saturday.
Acting on a specific intelligence, the joint team executed the operation with efficiency and coordination, striking a significant blow to smuggling networks in the region. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth ₹10.29 crores in international market, the biggest drug bust in recent time. The operation also resulted in apprehension of two individuals. The seized contraband and apprehended individuals were handed over to authorities for further legal action.
The successful interdiction is part of the ongoing efforts by Assam Rifles and is in line with the state CM mission of "Nasha Mukt Tripura", to counter illegal activities along the border areas and ensure national security. The operation was carried out in close coordination with representatives from Customs Department, reaffirming the commitment of Assam Rifles to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the region. The force remains vigilant and committed to disrupting narcotics smuggling networks operating in the Northeast.
