Man arrested for killing a tea stall owner

A miscreant, who after taking tea and cigarettes from a tea stall consecutively for the past few days, but refused to pay the bill of the poor tea stall owner, had severally attacked him and killed, was arrested by Agartala city police.
Giving details of the tragic incident, officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station, Sanjit Sen said that the victim tea stall owner, Sukhen Das (55) of Pratapgarh area under the same police station died in the GB Hospital after battling for life for the last two days.
Sen said that accused Dipankar Sarkar (33), a habitual addict and a neighbour of the victim tea stall owner had taken tea and cigarettes for the past few days from the stall of Sukhen Das, but he refused to pay the bill.
On May 20th last, when Sukhen Das tried to take his pending bills from accused Dipankar, he started attacking him and hit on the back of head with a brick.
Immediately, local people shifted him to GB Hospital and after battling for life, Sukhen Das succumbed due to his critical head injuries on May 21.
While, based on the FIR filed by one Riki Das, wife of the victim man, police managed to arrest accused Dipankar and produced him before a local court on Wednesday with police remand appeals, said Sen and added that court sent him for four days police remand for interrogation.
