Monsoon arrived Tripura, light to moderate rain predicted for next seven days

Finally the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into entire parts of Tripura on May 26th along with other Northeastern states on the same day, which was 10 days before its normal date, which entered Kerala on May 24th.
Last year the Southwest Monsoon advanced into entire parts of Tripura on May 30th, 2024.
The South-West Monsoon advanced by a week from its normal date, which has also set in over Kerala and advanced into most parts of Northeast India.
Speaking with Northeast Herald, IMD’s Agartala station Director , Dr Partha Roy said, conditions are becoming favorable for the advance of Southwest Monsoon into some other parts of Northeastern states.
The main rainy season of India and with the onset of Monsoon over Kerala, gradually moves towards other parts of the country.
According to the IMD, moderate rainfall was reported from West, North, and Dhalai districts on Monday.
Meanwhile, Khowai, Unakoti, and Gomati districts experienced light showers, and the remaining areas saw very light rainfall.
The IMD has also issued a yellow alert stating that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely to occur at one or two places across the districts of Tripura in the coming hours.
IMD said that rainfall will continue in most places across Tripura for the next few days with the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the coming next seven days. IMD has added that rainfall occurred at most places in Tripura with heavy rainfall at isolated places during the last 24 hours.
While, the temperatures in the state capital with maximum temperatures rising to 34.4 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius on Monday. Though the humidity level is at maximum 97 % recorded at the state capital.
IMD in its weather prediction for next five days said has issued ‘Yellow’ warnings and said light to moderate rain, thundershower is very likely to occur at few places over the districts of Tripura and has also issued warning that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Tripura and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over North, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura districts of the state.
