Severe tension and chaos erupted on the premises of Rupcharan Class 12 School in Tiltai area of Panisagar subdivision of North Tripura district on Wednesday, following allegations against a female teacher for physically assaulting multiple students. Guardians alleged that in the name of punishment, the students were forced to stand with their hands raised for a long period, and were subsequently beaten on their hands with a ruler.

According to the complaints, several students were injured and fell ill due to the incident.

Sources said that the incident occurred during regular classes on Wednesday when a female teacher entered the class-Sixth classroom. Upon entering, she noticed a dispute between two male students. In reaction to this, she reportedly decided to punish the entire class. As per the allegations, every student in the class was ordered to stand up with both hands raised for an extended duration. Although the students initially followed the order, many started experiencing severe pain in their arms after some time. When a few students lowered their hands, the enraged teacher allegedly struck them on their hands with a steel ruler. Guardians claimed that injury marks from the steel ruler were visible on the hands of several students. Some broke down in tears due to the intense pain, while a few began feeling ill.

As news of the incident spread rapidly, anxious guardians rushed to the school, triggering a highly tense situation on campus. The gathered parents expressed deep anger against the accused teacher and demanded accountability from the school management. At one point, the situation escalated so much that the Headmaster and other teachers had to intervene to calm the crowd.

To bring the situation under control, a meeting was organized under the supervision of the Headmaster, attended by both parents and teachers. During the meeting, the agitated guardians demanded strict administrative action against the accused teacher. Following the discussions, a decision was made to forward a formal written complaint against the teacher to the District Education Officer (DEO). School sources confirmed that a detailed complaint letter outlining the incident has already been sent to the relevant education authorities.

Meanwhile, the school management stated that considering the gravity of the matter, the higher education authorities have been informed, and further actions will be taken based on their directives. The incident has sparked widespread sensation throughout the area. According to guardian sources, three students had to seek medical attention at the local primary hospital following the incident. This has renewed concerns regarding the safety of students and the practice of corporal punishment in educational institutions. Guardians and local residents are now eagerly waiting to see what actions the District Education Department will take based on the complaint.
