National Lok Adalat today to resolve 11,346 pending cases through 66 benches

The National Lok Adalat for the year 2023 will be held on May 13 (Saturday) next across Tripura along with other parts of the country to resolve 11,346 pending cases.

The Member secretary Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), Datamohan Jamatia  said that based on the directives of National Legal Service Authority, a total of 66 courts of Tripura including High Court  will resolve the pending cases of motor vehicle act and appeals cases, NI act, matrimonial cases, civil and criminal compoundable cases, family disputes, bank’s non-performing asset case, disposal of Traffic Chillan cases etc.

Datamohan Jamatia  added that altogether 11,346 pending cases would be taken up in courts for disposal including 5070 cases of previous disputes, 6276 court cases, 4393 of bank’s non-performing asset cases, 292 MACT cases, 8 cases of Consumer court, 677 non-payment of BSNL bill cases, 5,576 appeals cases,  219 cases of matrimonial dispute, 97 cases of cheque bounce (NI Act), 21 defamation cases, 34 civil cases,  and 12 more cases of land disputes.

He said that a bench would be set at the High Court of Tripura, whereas a total of 80 pending cases would be taken up for disposal. Altogether 11 benches would be set up in Agartala court complex for disposal.

Earlier, the summons and e-notices  to all the parties of these cases were issued by the respective courts and TSLSA has requested all concerned persons to remain present on the scheduled date in their respective courts for disposal of pending cases. TSLSA added that law volunteers and para-legal volunteers will remain present in all courts to provide logistic support to all plaintiffs and defendants during the hearing of cases. The hearing for these cases will be held through physical or through direct appearances   and courts will start their functioning from morning 10 AM and will continue up to 4 PM on Saturday next.
