NLU, Tripura conducts 7th School-Connect programme at Nutan Nagar Girls H.S School
The National Law University (NLU), Tripura successfully executed its 7th School-Connect programme at Nutan Nagar Girls H.S. School, Agartala, on October 30, 2024 last, with the Class 12 students.
NLU through a press statement said that this programme, themed "Let us work together for the children of Tripura," is an integral part of NLU Tripura's continuous endeavours to empower students in the region and cultivate interest in legal education. The first session was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Founding Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura. Dr. Singh emphasized the significance of fundamental duties and rights as citizens, while accentuating the substantial contributions of lawyers to society.
He also acquainted students with diverse legal job prospects, urging them to contemplate law as a feasible and fulfilling career option. Later, the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) students highlighted the challenge of drug abuse in which state of Tripura is facing and discussed the implications of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 through their presentation.
Tripura is engaged in a war against drugs and narcotics, with an increasing number of instances emerging among the youth. Consequently, NLU Tripura has undertaken the initiative to spread awareness regarding addictions among students who can connect with their peers. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students actively engaged and sought additional clarification on the issues addressed. Ms. Merelin Darlong, Assistant Professor of English at NLU Tripura and the event Coordinator, participated in the event alongside the principal and teachers of the school.
