NSS unit of Holy Cross College organizes social outreach programme, visits old age home
As part of the ongoing NSS special camp, the NSS unit of Holy Cross College, in collaboration with Sanjeevani NGO, organized a social outreach programme at the old age home ‘Shandyaneer’ in Agartala on Sunday.
During the visit, essential items including rice, Dal (pulses), Soyabean, Atta (wheat flour), and spices were donated to the residents of the old age home. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about social responsibility and encourage students to engage in humanitarian activities for the welfare of elderly citizens.
Dr. Sharmistha Chakraborty, IQAC Coordinator and In-charge of the NSS Unit, visited the old age home along with members of Sanjeevani NGO and college students. Addressing the students, she emphasized the importance of social service and urged them to become responsible citizens who contribute towards nation building and care for the elderly members of society.
Secretary of the old age home, Goutam Roy Barman, was also present during the programme and appreciated the initiative undertaken by the students and organizers.
The students interacted warmly with the elderly residents, performed cultural songs, and spent quality time with them. The visit created an emotional and joyful atmosphere, leaving the students feeling blessed to be part of such a noble cause.
