Old woman beaten to death in a village arbitration meeting, no arrest so far

In a tragic and inhuman incident, an elderly woman beaten to death by a group of miscreants in a village arbitration meeting at Baratilla area of Rajnagar area of Udaipur under South Tripura district on July 1st and on Saturday, sons victim woman defying all threats of accused persons filed an FIR.

Sources said that on July 1st, some leaders of the ruling party called the son of one Aleka Bibi during a village arbitration meeting at Baratilla village.

During the meeting three miscreants owing allegiance with ruling BJP, identified as Dulu Miah, Safar Ali and Munaf Miah started thrashing her son. Seeing beating on her son mercilessly by these three miscreants, Aleka Bibi rushed to the spot and tried to protect her son.

But, miscreants thrashed her severally, ultimately she collapsed on the ground and was shifted to a local hospital, where a visiting doctor declared her brought dead.

After the tragic incident, some politically influenced persons tried to defuse the tension and protect all miscreants responsible for the killing of the old lady. They also threatened the victim's family not to file any police complaint and had also assured the victim’s two sons that they will resolve the matter by mutual discussion.

Finally, on Saturday two sons of Aleka Bibi by defying all threats filed a specific complaint at Radha Kishore Pur police station in Udaipur against three miscreants under murder sections.

Police sources said that they have already started an investigation over the death of Aleka Bibi and assured the victim's family that law will take its own course. Until Saturday night so far no arrest has been made.
