One-day certificate training workshop on "Legal Aid Lawyering" at NLU Tripura
The Legal Aid Society of National Law University (NLU), Tripura, in association with National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru, successfully organized a one-day Certificate Training Workshop on "Legal Aid Lawyering" under the Pan-India Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Initiative of department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice. As part of this programme, the NLU Tripura Legal Aid Society visited two adjacent villages, Maheshkhala Anganwari Kendra 01, Narsingarh Gram Panchayat, and Chinnaihani JB School, Das Para, Singarbill Grampanchayat to identify local issues and exchange contacts for addressing these problems.
The event began with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, who encouraged lawyers to be both professionally competent and socially relevant by spreading legal awareness. The Chief Guest Hon'ble Mr. Justice T. Amarnath Goud, Judge of the High Court of Tripura and Executive Chairman of the Tripura Legal Services Authority inaugurated the workshop and emphasized the need for legal literacy and equated the importance of legal aid to the fundamental right to medical aid. Prof. (Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor at NLSIU discussed the concept of digital arrest, the importance of awareness about online platforms, and highlighted the utility of the 'Nyaya Bandhu' app. The dignitaries also released the "Tripura ADR Chronicle, Legal News Bulletin" by NLU Tripura's ADR Centre.
The event was attended by Shri Ashutosh Pandey, Director, and Surabhi Shekhar, OSD, Tripura Judicial Academy, along with faculty from NLU Tripura and Tripura Government Law College, students from ICFAI University, Tripura, and TGLC, research scholars, NGOs, and lawyers from the State Bar Council. Dr Jayanta Dhar, Assistant Professor of Law and Faculty Advisor Legal Aid Society NLU Tripura coordinated the event. Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar NLUT concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks.
