Opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury demands legal action against OC of Amtali PS
The Leader of Opposition (LoP) and CPI (M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury has urged the DGP for immediate action against officers of the Amtali police station.
Chaudhury through a letter to the DGP, Amitabh Ranjan highlighted the serious allegations against the Officer-in-Charge (OC) and a Sub-Inspector (SI) of the police station, accusing them of pressurised a victim to withdraw a complaint and failing to register the victim's repeated pleas for help.
The incident occurred at Bhaishab Tilla area, where the victim and their family have reportedly faced attacks by a group of miscreants. Despite repeated approaches to the Amtali police station for assistance, the police allegedly refused to register their complaints.
The matter escalated when the victim filed a petition in court against the accused individuals, including the OC and SI. Acting on the court's directive, the Amtali police station was compelled to register a case against the accused persons including the involved officers.
In his letter, Chaudhury expressed his grave concern and claimed that the presence of the OC and SI at the Amtali police station could lead to tampering with evidence. Consequently, he demanded the immediate may be closed or transferred to ensure a fair investigation and the integrity of the judicial process.
