Police chase a drug laden car, seized huge quantities of Ganja, arrest one peddler
In a dramatic situation, police after chasing drug loaded car, managed to arrest a peddler along with seizure of large quantities of dry Ganja (Cannabis) from National Highway-8 portion of ONGC gate area under Amtali police station of West Tripura district on Wednesday morning.
Police sources said that Amtali police station has specific information over movement of a car with contraband items from Agartala to Bishalgarh area. Based on the information, a contingent of police forces laid an ambush at Badharghat area, but the suspected car managed to escape from that spot. When, police team chased the car, that suspected drug laden car collided face on with a jeep near ONGC gate area of Hapania.
Police added that then they detained a suspected drug peddler and also seized the Maruti car. During search in that car, police recovered five big packets of dry Ganjan, weighing 90 kilograms and have also arrested accused driver cum drug peddler, Bishu Nama in a specific case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act).
Police also said that they have initiated an investigation to get details of drug transportation network and will produce arrested drug peddler before a local court with police remand appeal.
