Police seized huge quantities of drugs, 6 arrested, CM appreciates success of police
Tripura police in its biggest haul of Yaba tablets has seized the contraband item worth of Rs. 2.28 crore through a big jolt to the narcotic syndicate by seizing the biggest consignment of Yaba in the state.
Police sources said that based on secret information, the Dhalai district police on Friday night detained a suspected Tata Safari car coming from Mizoram.
After thorough search in the vehicle, in which three suspected drug peddlers from Sonamura area of Sepahijala district boarded, police recovered huge quantities of Yaba tablets contained in many packets inside hidden chambers of the car.
Police said that a total of 91,200 Yaba tablets, worth Rs. 2.28 crore seized from the car and they have also arrested three drug peddlers.
A specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 has been registered against these culprits.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighting the state’s police achievement through a social media post said “We are committed to making Tripura drug-free (Nasha Mukt Tripura) and ensuring all offenders face the law.”
In two other operations, the North Tripura district police have also seized 120 kilograms of dry Cannabis (Ganja) and 1 kg 164 grams of Heroin from Churaibari and Damcherra area of the district and have also arrested three more drug peddlers.
Police sources added that during routine checkup of Lorries, police detained a suspected truck near Churaibari check post and sensing the raid of police, driver and co-driver of the truck managed to escape from the post. Later, in the course of the search operation, police recovered many packets of dry Ganja, weighing 120 kilograms from different chambers of the truck.
In another operation, the police personnel from Damcherra police station seized 1 kg 164 grams of Heroin and have also arrested three drug peddlers.
