Pradyot meets Amit Shah in Delhi, committee to see issues of 10 ADCs
The central government is going to constitute a committee headed by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityananda Rai to look into the grievances of all the ten Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) of the Northeast region constituted under the sixth schedule of the Constitution.
Union Home Minister Amit Saha on Thursday conveyed the decision to a delegation of the ten ADCs when they met him at New Delhi. Promod Boro, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council led the delegation in which Pradyot Kishore Debbarma represented Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
No official release was available but the Bodoland CEO Pramod Boro in a social media post conveyed the decision of the Union Home Minister. Pradyot Kishore also confirmed the decision in a separate social media post. He also lamented for growing mistrust about his intention and in another post said “A few people doubted that after sharing power I will be silent on the rights of our people. Today, I am glad that while some in my own state questioned me, the other indigenous people of Northeast have appreciated the effort I have put to secure our constitutional rights.”
Promod Bodo in his post said HM gave his assurance that issues relating to all 10 Sixth Schedule Councils, including the implementation of all clauses of the Bodo Peace Accord, 2020, will be addressed amicably. He expressed satisfaction over the meeting with the Union Home Minister and appreciated Amit Shah for his continued guidance and leadership. He also commented that the Home Minister always had a special place in his heart for our North East.
“Glad to have joined the meeting of Chief Executive Members of Sixth Schedule Councils with Hon’ble Union Home Minister Adarniya Shri Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi today.
Hon’ble HM gave his assurance that issues relating to all 10 Sixth Schedule Councils, including the implementation of all clauses of the Bodo Peace Accord, 2020, will be addressed amicably. Hon’ble HM has also decided to constitute a committee under the chairmanship of Hon’ble MoS, Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai ji to resolve the development issues of our people. Hon’ble HM has always had a special place in his heart for our North East, and I, on behalf of the people of BTR and all 10 Sixth Schedule Councils, extend my gratitude to Adarniya Amit Shah Ji for his continued guidance & leadership,” said Promod Bodo in his Facebook post.
It may be recalled here that Pradyot first took the initiative to unite all the ten ADCs of the region and even called a meeting at Shillong but most of the stakeholders did not respond. Lastly Promod Bodo landed on the field and organized the meeting at Delhi instead of Shillong which decided to meet the Union Home Minister.
