RBI holds Financial Literacy Week 2025 at Agartala, Gov emphasizes on importance of financial empowerment of women

Reserve Bank of India, Agartala organized an opening ceremony of the Financial Literacy Week 2025 at Agartala on Monday. The Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu graced the program as the Chief Guest and launched the posters related to the Financial Literacy Week 2025.
In his address, Governor Reddy emphasized on the importance of Financial Empowerment of women in upliftment of community, state and the whole country and realized the dream of making India a “Viksit Bharat”. The programme was attended by Smt. Rakhi Biswas, , Additional Secretary & Director, Directorate of Small Savings, Group Insurance and Institutional Finance, Surendra Nidar, General Manager (Officer-in-Charge), Reserve Bank of India, Agartala, Anil Kotmire, General Manager (Officer-in-Charge), NABARD, Satyendra Singh, Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank, Rituraj Krishna, DGM, SLBC Convener and other esteemed senior members from banks and members from the CFL. Speaking on the occasion, Nidar urged all the bankers and other stakeholders present to come forward and join hands with RBI in the endeavor of spreading financial awareness among the women folks and make this a grand success.
The RBI in a press statement stated that the Reserve Bank has been observing Financial Literacy Week (FLW) every year since 2016 on a specific theme targeted at particular segments of the population. FLW 2025 which is being observed from February 24-28, 2025, marks the 10th edition of this initiative. The objective behind observing FLW is to spread awareness among people about key financial topics through focused campaigns. As the financial landscape evolves rapidly, the need for financial literacy and understanding the risks and rewards associated with making financial decisions, has never been more crucial.
The central program of Financial Literacy Week 2025 was inaugurated by the Governor, Reserve Bank of India , Sanjay Malhotra in Mumbai on Monday. This year the theme of FLW is “Financial Literacy: Women’s Prosperity”. The intent is to prioritize financial literacy for women considering their multifaceted role in society. The campaign will cover topics such as risk diversification, responsible borrowing, maintaining a good credit score and household budgeting and will have special focus on homemakers, working women and women entrepreneurs.
During the week, the Reserve Bank, in collaboration with banks and other stakeholders will organize awareness programs and outreach activities across the country. These initiatives will also be sustained during the year to ensure a lasting impact. Through our joint efforts we hope to amplify the importance of financial literacy for women and reach out to them on the widest possible scale.
