Rupak Saha new general secretary of East Bengal football club
Rupak Saha, a familiar name in the field of sports and culture in the state has ascended into a new height when he has been elected as the General Secretary of the country’s premier football club East Bengal of Kolkata. It is a new achievement for Saha who took his Agartala based family business Shyam Sundar Co Jewelers to the national level.
Rupak Saha has become the new general secretary replacing Kalyan Majumdar who held the post for more than two decades.
Kolkata based industrialist Murari Lal Lohia has become president of the club replacing Dr Pronab Dasgupta.
Saha’s election evoked huge enthusiasm in Agartala as various sections of the people especially football lovers congratulated him. Responding to the congratulations Rupak Saha said his first task will be to make East Bengal the best football club of the country. The family of Rupak Saha and the Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers have a long association with the East Bengal Club.
Responding to the congratulations Rupak Saha said the East Bengal always brings up new generation players and he will pursue this endeavour more vigorously. Rupak Saha said lots of football players in the national level are coming from Manipur and Mizoram but Tripura boys could not make it due to lack of opportunities. He will try to establish a football academy in Tripura if get sufficient cooperation from the Tripura Football Association.
