Six more BD nationals detained from Agartala Railway station, Kailashahar border for illegal entry

Despite heightened vigil along the India-Bangladesh border, infiltration from the unrest hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and on Tuesday again two more citizens of the neighbouring country were arrested by the security personnel from Agartala railway station before boarding a long distance train. In another incident, four more Bangladeshi including a minor girl were detained by BSF near Indo-Bangla fencing at Magroli village of Kailashahar under Unakoti district on Monday evening.

After a flag meeting between BSF and their counterpart in Bangladesh, Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB), four detained Bangladeshi were handed over to BGB.

After  unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued  and in the last two months, hundreds of Bangladesh nationals and Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.

Police sources said that the Tripura police along with other security forces including BSF and Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) had arrested over 1000  Bangladesh nationals and  above 100 Rohingyas for their illegal entry in the last few months.

While giving details, OC of GRP station of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das on Tuesday said that a joint contingent of GRP, RPF and BSF based on secret information on Monday evening managed to arrest two Bangladeshi including a female and two children before their escaping bid towards a long distance train.

The Bangladeshi citizens after illegally entering Tripura were trying to board a train to go to other parts of the country via Guwahati.

Das said that arrested Bangladeshi national were identified as Tahidul Polan (26) of Bagerhaut district of Bangladesh and another arrested female was identified as Rajifa Begum (19) of same district of Bangladesh and they have also two children including a three years old and another is one year old.

In another incident, BSF posted in the Magroli area of Kailashahar under Unakoti district has detained four Bangladeshi including 3 women with a minor girl and a male person. Border Guards after a flag meeting with BGB has also handed over all four Bangladeshi before the authorities of BGB

It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.

Officials said that all the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
