Smuggler caught red handed with Ganja from border
The Anti-drug operation by Tripura police once again on Friday achieved another success by arresting a drug peddler with large quantities of dry Ganja before smuggling it to Bangladesh.
Giving details, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said based on the secret information, police personnel from West Agartala police station and Ramnagar town outpost (TOP) in association with BSF raided at Sharma Lunga area of bordering Lankamura village under the same police station and managed to detain a drug peddler, when he was busy with transportation of dry Ganja towards Bangladesh.
During the raid, police recovered 22 kilograms of dry Ganja (Cannabis) worth Rs. 54 lakh under his possession along with a motorbike.
He said that the arrested drug peddler was identified as Rana Sheikh of Goyala Basti area of Agartala, who was busy with transportation of drugs on both sides of the border, but remained untraced and finally , on Friday police with association with BSF managed to arrest him during his smuggling bid.
