Suspected thieves looted donation box from Laxmi-Narayan temple in Agartala

Amidst growing theft and snatching incidents across Agartala city, gangs of burglars have continued their looting spree in different temples in different parts of the state. But, this they have also looted the donation boxes from the famous Laxmi-Narayan temple in Agartala despite deployment of private security guards.
Sources said that the century old famous Laxmi-Narayan temple at the heart of the Agartala city have also been crowded till evening 8 to 9 PM every day and on Monday night, as usual, the temple authorities closed the temple doors and gates including the Lord Shiva temple in the same premises and they left the temple in presence private security guards, who were deployed for guarding the temple complex.
When, on Tuesday morning, the priest of the Lord Shiva temple tried to open the gates and doors of the temple, he noticed that the lock of the donation box was broken and the big box also opened.
The priest , then called other priests and temple authorities and they have also noticed , suspected thieves has also looted bangles from Lord Shiva idol and informed the incident to police.
Temple authorities said that suspected thieves had tried to enter into the main temple of Laxmi-Narayan to commit their crimes, but could not get success as temple doors were locked with heavy shutters.
Police sources said that they have visited the temple and collected all CCTV footage to get evidence of theft. Police have also grilled a private security guard, who was on-duty on Monday night.
But, till Tuesday late evening, police did not get any success over recovery of stolen donation money from the temple.
