Thieves raided in a closed CBI office, looted all items, 6 arrested
Growing incident of theft in different parts of Tripura has continued and unabated, but this time a group raided a closed office complex of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and looted all items stored in that office.
This incident came to light, when a CBI team opened their office on February 11 last after five months, the they found all office items including big almirahs, doors, windows, utensils and different electric items stolen away by unknown thieves.
Giving details of the incident, SDPO (NCC) Subrata Barman said that the CBI camp office located in Shyamali Bazar quarter complex under the same police station was opened on February 11, 2025 last after five months. CBI officials after noticing the stolen incident, the CBI Inspector Anurag on the same day lodged a complaint at the police station.
The OC of the NCC police and OC of ABhoynagar police town outpost (TOP) formed a team and started investigation, said Barman and added that during investigation, the police team within 48 hours of lodging FIR has managed to arrest two thieves involved in the incident.
SDPO said that two arrested thieves identified as Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik, the investigation team has recovered many stolen items and based on their confessional statements, police has also arrested four more infamous thieves and has recovered majority of the stolen items under their possessions.
On Thursday , police forwarded them before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation to arrest remaining thieves involved with the incident.
