Tipra-Motha to call Tripura Bandh in support of their demand for constitutional solution
The opposition Tipra-Motha is likely to call Tripura Bandh and will declare the date on Saturday to put pressure on the Centre for a constitutional solution to the problems faced by the indigenous people.
Speaking with media persons on Friday at Agartala after meeting of the central committee of the party, former chairman of Tipra-Motha and Royal Scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said that he had meetings with the officials of the central government and added that the development of Tripura is not possible without development of ‘Tiprasa’ (indigenous people).
“We have decided to call a Bandh to press for our demands. We will announce the date tomorrow,” said Pradyot.
“While the talks have been very positive in Delhi there are people in Agartala who keep on playing a negative role .Time has come for us to keep the pressure on the Government of India and press for our demands . Our Rights are important because the delimitation process will start soon and we need two secure our constitutional rights before this,” said Pradyot .
After meeting with all leaders, the party has decided for a greater movement , which is required so that their voices are heard in Delhi , said Pradyot and added that time has come for them to unite so they achieve something for the next generation .
“Our demand is not against any community but in favour of Tiprasa people. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been very supportive to our demand. However, it is the time to prove our strength before the Centre. They will not take us seriously unless we show our unity and strength”, he said.
He appealed to all Tiprasa people to support the bandh unitedly to secure their future.
Asserting that “Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura” will not be possible without development of Tiprasa people, he said BJP had promised it in the election manifesto, but did nothing about it so far.
“We have to make the Centre understand that injustice has been done to Tiprasa people. If you take corrective measures, we will be with you or else we have the right to fight for our rights and secure a bright future for Tiprasa,” he said.
