Transport minister urges Railway ministry to provide Kanchanjungha stoppage at Belonia
Responding to the demands of people and also the request of opposition, the Transport Minister of Tripura on Tuesday has also requested the Union Railway Minister providing a stoppage of - Kanchanjungha Express at Belonia station.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury through a letter to the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday said that ‘recent extension of the Kanchanjangha express train service from Agartala station up to Sabroom, marks a significant improvement in connectivity of the state , offering greater convenience and accessibility to passengers travelling to and from Sabroom. Now, a demand from the people of Belonia subdivision of South Tripura district for a stoppage at Belonia station’.
Chowdhury said that providing a stoppage at Belonia rail station shall improve connectivity scope for the residents of Belonia subdivision to other parts of Tripura and beyond and will also allow easier access to transportation for both local residents and visitors and will reduce the travel time and will make the journey more comfortable for commuters, students and other travelers.
He also said that the demand for a stoppage of Kanchanjungha express at Belonia rail station is driven by the present need to improve connectivity, support economic growth, enhance convenience for travelers and meet the increasing demand for transportation services in the region.
Chowdhury requested the Union Railway Minister to consider the proposal of stoppage of Kanchanjungha express at Belonia for greater interest of the people of subdivision.
