Tripura celebrates second Lineman Day: Honouring power workers in Mohanpur

The Mohanpur Electrical Division of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) organized a grand event to celebrate the Second Lineman Day at the Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti Hall. The program was held to honour linemen for their invaluable contributions to the power sector and recognize their dedication to ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply.

The event was presided over by TSECL's Director (Finance), Sarvjit Sing Dogra. Other notable attendees included TSECL Circle-II DGM Manoranjan Das, DGM ED-Mohanpur Khokan Debbarma, renowned social worker Shyamal Debnath, and Mohanpur Municipal Councilors Kartik Acharya, Anjali Biswas, and Purnima Das.

As part of the celebration, on Tuesday eight linemen from the Mohanpur Electrical Division were honoured for their exceptional service in power management. These linemen have been working tirelessly to ensure the seamless distribution of electricity, even in challenging conditions.

Speaking at the event, TSECL Director (Finance) Sarvjit Sing Dogra emphasized the crucial role of linemen and helpers in power distribution. He acknowledged their dedication, stating, "Linemen and helpers are the backbone of power distribution. Their relentless efforts ensure a stable electricity supply to the public."

However, he also expressed concerns over safety awareness among linemen and helpers. "Many workers often neglect safety protocols, which leads to accidents. These incidents not only impact the workers and their families but also affect the electricity corporation as a whole," he said. He urged all linemen to strictly follow TSECL-approved safety guidelines and use protective equipment while working.

To enhance safety measures, TSECL has been organizing training programs for linemen and helpers. Dogra reassured that these initiatives will continue in the future to ensure a safer work environment for power workers.

Since 2024, March 4 has been officially designated as 'Lineman Day to honour the invaluable contributions of linemen to the power sector. Each year, this day will be dedicated to recognizing their hard work, raising safety awareness, and organizing special programs to support them.

The event concluded with the presentation of mementos and awards to the honoured linemen. Expressing gratitude to the workforce, the dignitaries stated, "Tripura's power infrastructure remains strong because of the relentless efforts of linemen. Their dedication ensures that electricity reaches every household without disruption."

This initiative is expected to motivate linemen, enhance workplace safety, and reinforce the importance of their contributions to the power sector.
