Tripura to set up second Rubber Park in Santirbazar: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Monday announced that the state government would set up another rubber park in Santirbazar under South Tripura District.
Dr Saha said that the state now has a favorable environment for industrial development, and Tripura has become a significant destination for investors.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while addressing the two-day Tripura Rubber Conclave-2024 at a private hotel in Agartala on Monday evening.
In this conclave, industrialists who have achieved success based on rubber also shared their experiences.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled a booklet titled Transforming Tripura: The Land of Opportunities. A documentary on the development of the rubber industry in Tripura was also screened.
During the conclave, the Chief Minister noted that Tripura ranks second in the country in rubber production.
“Nine percent of India's rubber is produced in Tripura. The quality of the state's rubber is world-renowned. Tripura not only produces rubber but also has ample natural resources, creating opportunities to build many industries,” said Dr Saha.
The Chief Minister announced that the second rubber park would be set up in Santirbazar after Bodhjungnagar.
He highlighted that high-quality furniture is now being made from rubber wood, which is being used by the people of the state.
“Additionally, exports are being made to foreign markets. The department is taking various initiatives to attract investors in sectors like rubber, bamboo, and food processing,” he said.
He further emphasized that the current state government is focusing on creating an industrial-friendly environment in Tripura, developing industrial areas, food parks, bamboo parks, and more.
Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Chairman and Managing Director of Shija Hospital Pauline Khundongbam, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Secretary of the Department of Industry and Commerce Kiran Gitte, Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Nabadal Banik, Chief Conservator of Forests RK Samal, and others were also present.
