TSECL launches DSM measure for energy efficiency
Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Green Tree Global, successfully launched its Demand Side Management (DSM) measures in Tripura on Friday at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala.
This event, attended by distinguished officials and industry experts, represents a significant step in Tripura’s commitment to enhancing energy efficiency across both residential and commercial sectors.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Abhishek Singh, Secretary of Power department, who emphasized the state’s dedication to promoting sustainable energy practices. In his special address, Singh outlined the government’s long-term vision of reducing energy consumption and improving grid reliability through a comprehensive DSM framework. He remarked that Tripura is committed to leading the way in energy efficiency, and these DSM measures will play a pivotal role in ensuring a sustainable future for our state.
The event was also graced by other key dignitaries, including Biswajit Basu, Managing Director, TSECL, who highlighted the role of energy-efficient practices in managing energy demand and advancing environmental goals. Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Advisor, Green Tree Global, shared valuable insights into the current energy landscape in Tripura, while outlining strategic pathways for DSM implementation. Dr. C. S Azad, Team Lead for the North East zone, provided a detailed overview of ongoing efforts to boost demand-side efficiency and highlighted the expected positive impact of DSM measures on energy conservation across the region. The event concluded with an interactive session, where audience had the opportunity to provide feedback and raise queries, fostering further discussion on the implementation and impact of the DSM initiatives.
A highlight of the event was the demonstration of the Home Energy Management System (HEMS), showcasing its potential in optimizing energy usage, particularly for air conditioning loads, by leveraging smart plugs for real-time monitoring and control. Additionally, the unveiling of energy-efficient products, including BLDC fans, energy-efficient pumps, and other appliances, captured attention. Leading vendors such as Havells, Halonix, and KSB displayed their latest innovations, contributing to the state’s ambitious DSM targets. Representatives from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and energy service companies (ESCOs) engaged in discussions on innovative technologies and their role in strengthening DSM initiatives in Tripura.
This launch marks the beginning of a transformative journey for Tripura, toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future. With key stakeholders from the government, private sector, and civil society united in their efforts, the state is committed to lead the way in advancing its DSM agenda.
