In a successful operation, police arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered 29 kg of dried Ganja (Cannabis) during an operation based on a tip-off at Mungiakami Railway Station Road on Saturday under Khowai district.

Police sources said that , officers received confidential information that two persons were carrying a large quantity of illegal Ganja through the railway station road area. Acting swiftly on the information, police launched an operation and detained two persons found moving suspiciously in the area.

During a search of the bags carried by the two suspects, police recovered dry Ganja concealed inside. A total of 29 kg of Ganja was seized, with its estimated market value believed to be more than Rs 4 lakh.

The operation was led by Mungiakami police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rajat Mani Jamatia, who conducted the raid with a team of police personnel.

The two detained persons were taken to the police station for questioning. Police are investigating the source of the Ganja and where it was allegedly being taken for delivery. Investigators are also examining whether other persons were involved in the suspected drug trafficking network.

Police said anti-drug operations will continue in the coming days, with particular focus on preventing Ganja trafficking and the illegal trade in narcotic substances.
