Two inter-state drug peddlers arrested from Jogendranagar Railway station with Ganja
Once again Agartala city police have arrested two inter-state drug peddlers and recovered large quantities of dry Ganja (Cannabis) under their possession before their escape bid through a long distance train on Tuesday from Jogendranagar Railway station.
Giving details SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy speaking with media persons at East Agartala police station on Tuesday afternoon said, based on secret information a contingent of police personnel from East Agartala station in plain clothes were posted at Jogendranagar Railway station.
On Tuesday morning plain cloth police noticed suspected movements of a couple in the platform, who were ready to board in long distance training. Then, police detained them and found three bags under their possessions and in the course of search, police recovered 8 packets of dry Ganja, weighing 36 kilograms, two mobile sets and cash amount of Rs. 3000.
Roy arrested drug peddlers were identified as Upesh Kumar and Smt Khushbu Devi of Bihar state, who are active members of an inter-state drug network and engaged in transportation of Ganja from Tripura to Bihar state.
He said that a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 has been registered against two drug peddlers and they will be produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
SDPO hoped that during interrogation, police will also unearth the roots of the inter-state drug network and will also be able to arrest other associates of these two drug peddlers.
