In bizarre incident, a group of miscreants severally abused with racial slurs two on-duty Traffic personnel at busiest Netaji Chowmuhani area of Agartala and the viral video, taken my some onlookers has run by some facebook channels has created massive reaction among netigens.
Police sources said that on Thursday evening, two Traffic police personnel including a constable and Sub-Inspector (SI) were posted at the busiest Netaji Chowmuhani area under West Agartala police station. Both Traffic police along with other Traffic unit personnel amidst heavy traffic jams were busy to ensure smooth traffic movements and they had also started to clear the two wheelers and other vehicles from the no-parking zone.
When, both of them impose traffic Act violation challans to errant two wheelers riders, a group of miscreants led by Diptanu Das and Dip Datta started altercation with on-duty traffic personnel protesting traffic challans. At a time, they started abusing both traffic personnel with racial slurs and insulted them.
Miscreants had also created obstruction to perform duties and they had also engaged in scuffle with them.
Later, some police personnel from West Agartala police station rushed to the spot and all miscreants escaped from the spot.
After this bizarre incident, senior traffic officers were also reached at the incident spot and they lodged a complaint at West Agartala police station over violation of the Motor Vehicle Act. Police have also detained two accused youths Diptanu Das and Dip Datta, who were also given bails.
The viral video also reflected growing resentment of city dwellers over hooliganism by a section of youths across Agartala, who were often, violated traffic rules and even they were not ready to pay heed to police personnel on duty.
