Unrest In Bangladesh: IG BSF reviews operational readiness in borders of North, Unakoti
The IG of BSF, Tripura Frontier, Patel Piyush Purusottam Das has embarked on a two-day visit to the border areas of North Tripura and Unakoti districts of Tripura. The IG arrived at Bagbasa helipad in a BSF Helicopter and was received by DIG BSF Panisagar and other officers.
The IG then visited various Border outposts (BOPs) under Unakoti and North Tripura districts. During the visit, he interacted with unit Commandant, Company Commanders and troops deployed on the border, reviewing the operational preparedness keeping in view the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh. The IG commended the BSF officers and troops for their unrelenting efforts in preventing transborder crimes and illegal entry of Bangladeshis.
He also reviewed the functioning of recently established command and control centre (C3) as BSF has been installing high tech AI enabled cameras in the border to augment the domination. He further visited the riverine gaps and was briefed by the field commanders on the measures being taken to plug them.
During interaction with commanders at the border, IG emphasised upon use of non-lethal weapons to prevent the trans-border smuggling and sensitized them about the current situation.
He also briefed the troops about the incident of jail break in Qasimpur, Bangladesh and exhorted the troops to maintain high vigil to prevent any infiltration attempt.
He further had a meeting with DM and SP of Unakoti at DM office in which he was briefed about the current situation in Bangladesh and various security measures being jointly undertaken by the civil administration with BSF.
The IG BSF further halted for night at one of the Border Out Posts and reviewed the night domination also. The IG and other senior officers of BSF Tripura are actively monitoring the current border situation and the troops are in a state of high alert.
