Villagers’ attacks on BSF, police at bordering Jatrapur, seized huge quantities of Ganja, Phensedyl
The Border Guards in a joint operation with police seized huge quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) and contraband cough syrup-Phensedyl from bordering Jatrapur area of Sepahijala district on Thursday and during operation, local villagers attacked on security forces.
During indiscriminate stone pelting , one BSF jawan sustained injuries and a mob also damaged a police vehicle.
BSF sources said that on Thursday evening on specific input of BSF, a joint operation with police personnel of Jatrapur police station was launched in the depth area of Dhanpur border outpost (BOP).
During the joint operation, security forces recovered four drums of Ganja, approximately weight of 35 kgs and 3,760 bottles of Phensedyl syrup from the house of one Iman Miah of Barnarayanpur village under the same police station.
During the raid, local villagers started stone pelting targeting the security forces and taking advantage of stone pelting by locals, owner of the house and drug smuggler Iman Miah fled away from the spot.
BSF added that in order to prevent the seizure and obstruct the personnel on duty the mob also attacked a joint party and started pelting stones, in which the driver of the BSF vehicle got injured. He was later evacuated to a local primary hospital for first Aid. In this attack one police vehicle also got damaged.
Joint operation party showed extreme restraint while dealing with the unruly mob avoiding collateral damage.
BSF added that they are committed to fight the menace of drugs in Tripura and such operations will continue in the near future.
