15 journalists killed in first 10 days of Israel-Hamas conflict: Reports
At least 15 journalists lost their lives in the 10-day Israel-Hamas war, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported.
Of the 15 journalists who lost their lives, 11 were Palestinian, three were Israeli, and one was Lebanese. Eight journalists have been reported as injured, while three are currently listed as missing or detained.
The CPJ is actively investigating over 100 additional reports of journalists facing threats, being missing, detained, or killed.
Reuters Editor-in-Chief, Alessandra Galloni, has made a public call on Monday for Israeli authorities to launch an official investigation into the circumstances of one journalist's death and said: "Eyewitnesses at the scene said the shell that killed Islam came from Israel."
NDTV provided a list of journalists killed amid the Israel-Hamas conflict: Ibrahim Mohammad Lafi, Mohammad Jarghoun, Mohammad Al-Salhi, Yaniv Zohar, Ayelet Arnin, Shai Regev, Assaad Shamlakh, Hisham Alnwajha, Mohammed Sobh, Saeed al-Taweel, Mohamed Fayez Abu Matar, Ahmed Shehab, Issam Abdallah, Husam Mubarak and Salam Mema.
Journalists in Gaza face heightened risk in "the face of a ground assault by Israeli troops, devastating Israeli airstrikes, disrupted communications, and extensive power outages," CPJ notes.
The majority of journalist casualties occurred in Gaza, where more than 1,400 Israelis and over 2,750 Palestinians lost their lives in the ongoing war, as of Monday evening.
