300 people killed in recent unrest in Iran
Tehran/IBNS: At least 300 people have been killed in recent unrest in Iran following mass protests triggered by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who passed away while in police custody, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Tuesday.
"More than 300 people died in recent riots due to the fact that we were unable to distinguish between enemies and those who stood on our side," he was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
The protests erupted over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was detained for allegedly breaking Iran's precise dress code.
These protests were quick to spread across the Islamic Republic and become a major outburst to do away with Iran's theocracy.
Farideh Morhadkhani, niece of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini, calls for foreign administrations to cut their ties with Tehran amid a nationwide unrest, as per a video statement released by her France-based brother.
She also urged the "conscientious people of the world" to support the protesters in Iran.
"I ask the conscientious people of the world to stand by us and ask their governments not to react with empty words and slogans but with real action and stop any dealings with this regime," she added
