After Delhi blast, Islamabad hit by suicide explosion — 12 killed outside court
At least 12 people were killed and around 20 others injured in a suspected suicide blast outside the Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Tuesday, a day after a separate car explosion in neighbouring nation India's New Delhi left eight people dead.
According to local media reports, the explosion took place around 12:30 pm when a vehicle parked near the complex detonated.
The blast set the vehicle ablaze, with flames spreading to nearby cars.
The sound of the explosion was heard across the surrounding area.
Police officials said the complex was crowded at the time, contributing to the high number of casualties.
Among the dead are reported to be several lawyers who were present at the complex.
The injured were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, and a forensic team has begun collecting evidence. An investigation into the incident is underway.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
