Around 3,000 Sri Lankan families struggle with water shortage amid dry weather
Colombo: About 3,000 families in Sri Lanka are facing drinking water problems due to persistent dry weather conditions, said the country's Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Friday.
Speaking to the media about the current weather and its implications, Deputy Director of the DMC Pradeep Kodippili said they have told those who live in areas with water shortages to contact the DMC for assistance.
They can reach the DMC through the hotline, "117," he said.
Kodippili added that those affected can also reach out to grassroots government officials, and those families are from Kegalle and Kurunegala districts.
Kodippili said DMC officials are collaborating with government agencies to provide relief to the people affected by the dry weather.
Earlier, the meteorological department warned there would be no significant rainfall in the country until May.
