Chinese president Xi urges BRICS nations to enhance global governance
Johannesburg/UNI: Chinese President Xi Jinping, during his address at the 15th BRICS Summit held on Wednesday, called upon the member countries to enhance global governance, emphasizing the importance of fairness and justice.
President Xi underscored that bolstering global governance stands as the most fitting decision if the global community is to collectively embrace developmental prospects and effectively address worldwide challenges.
In his discourse, Xi articulated the necessity for international regulations to be collectively formulated and upheld by all nations, in adherence to the foundational principles outlined in the UN Charter.
This approach, he emphasized, should supersede any imposition by those wielding the most power or projecting the loudest influence.
President Xi firmly expressed his stance against the formation of exclusive cliques that project their self-created regulations as global norms, terming such actions as unacceptable.
Advocating for genuine multilateralism, Xi urged the BRICS nations to uphold the international system centered around the United Nations. He also urged them to bolster the multilateral trading system anchored by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to reject endeavors aimed at establishing restricted groups or exclusive alliances.
Xi stated, "We must fully leverage the potential of the New Development Bank, drive forward the reform of global financial and monetary systems, and amplify the representation and influence of developing countries."
The BRICS Summit concluded with a consensus on these vital matters, signifying a collective commitment to reinforce equitable and impartial global governance.
