Germany: Car hits crowd in Munich, injuring 15; driver detained
Munich (Germany): A car plowed into a crowd in Munich, Germany, injuring several people, police reported on Thursday.
According to Bild newspaper, 15 people sustained injuries in the incident.
The incident occurred just a day before the Munich Security Conference, where U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy are expected to arrive later on Thursday.
A police spokesperson has said the person who drove a car into a group of people in Munich has been identified as a 24-year-old Afghan national.

A large-scale police operation was launched near the city's central train station in response.
Police stated on X that they had detained the driver and did not perceive any ongoing threat.
Local broadcaster BR reported that the victims appeared to be participants in a demonstration linked to a strike organised by the Verdi union. However, the union stated that it had no information regarding the incident.
