Pakistan: Balochistan minister sent to police custody for 10 days in triple murder case
Quetta: A local court in Quetta on Thursday granted 10-day physical remand of Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, who was arrested in connection with a triple murder case, to the Crimes Branch Police, media reports said on Friday.
The political leader was arrested on Wednesday.
Pakistan police on Tuesday raided the house of Balochistan Minister for Construction and Communications Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran in connection with the murder of three people.
The bullet-ridden bodies were recovered from a well in Barkhan district.
According to the police spokesperson, female police officers were also present during the raid, reports Geo News.
The police searched different parts of the house including the guest room.
The spokesperson told Geo News that the roads leading to Khetran's house in Quetta's Patel Bagh were sealed, adding that the raid was carried out to recover Khan Muhammad Marri's five children.
Khetran earlier denied keeping a private jail in his residence following the recovery of bodies.
The victims, a woman and two men, were identified by the police as Giran Naz, age 40-45, wife of Khan Muhammad Marri and her two sons Mohammad Nawaz, aged 20-25, and Abdul Qadir, aged 15-20, reports Dawn News.
Talking to Dawn.com, Khan Muhammad — the husband of the slain woman and the father of the brothers — alleged that in 2019, his wife and seven children were imprisoned in Khetran’s private jail due to not testifying in a case conflict between Khetran and his son, Sardar Inam Khetran.
He said that a video of his wife had surfaced on a website after which his family’s bodies were found in a well in a far-flung area. Khan Muhammad alleged that his family was killed after being tortured.
Khetran, while talking to Dawn.com, denied the allegation and termed the incident as “propaganda created to tarnish his political repute”.
