Pakistan: Over 30,000 job seekers gather in stadium for appearing in police constable recruitment exam
Islamabad: A stadium filled up with people to observe a concert is a regular site but a large number of exam seekers assembling only to give an examination for recruitment of police constable is indeed making headlines in Pakistan.
A stadium in Pakistan (Islamabad Sports Complex) was filled with more than 30,000 people taking a written test for Islamabad's police force which shows the magnitude of the unemployment in the country. The cash-strapped country is reeling under a severe economic crisis and high unemployment, reports News Bharati.
A video of the incident has gone viral on the internet.
In the video, thousands of candidates could be seen sitting in the stadium to appear for the written examination.
Over 31 percent of the country's youth is currently unemployed, revealed a report on the employment situation released by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) last year.
Out of these 31 percent, 51 percent are females while 16 per cent are males, with many of them possessing professional degrees. Nearly 60 percent of Pakistan’s population is less than 30 years old, reported The Express Tribune.
