Shooting in Indiana leaves one person dead
One person was killed, and five others, including a police officer, were wounded in an early morning shooting on Sunday in Indianapolis, U.S. state of Indiana.
Two police officers in full uniform were working in off-duty employment at a bar when a disturbance occurred in the parking lot outside the bar at around 1:30 a.m., local media quoted Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Christopher Bailey as saying during a news conference at the scene.
Both officers exchanged gunfire with a suspect, and one officer was shot in the upper thigh but is expected to recover.
Additional officers responded and found four other victims in the parking lot with non-life-threatening injuries.
A firearm was found in the parking lot.
Shortly after the shooting incident, a man arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
He was then pronounced dead. Police suspect that he was connected to the shooting incident.
The police are investigating the incident.
