After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP failed to secure the simple majority in the April-June Lok Sabha polls, the saffron camp needed the mandatory support of its allies to form the government for the third consecutive term.
The TDP and JD (U), which have 16 and 12 seats respectively in Lok Sabha, have emerged as key allies of the BJP, which won 240 seats, which are 32 short of the majority mark (272).
