Assam leads voter surge with 85.04% turnout, Puducherry tops charts as Kerala crosses 77%

By 6 pm, Puducherry recorded the highest turnout at 89.08 percent, followed closely by Assam at 85.04 percent, while Kerala registered 77.38 percent.

Assam surpasses 2021 turnout figures

In Assam, voting was conducted across all 126 Assembly constituencies, with turnout reaching 85.04 percent by 6 pm.

This figure has already exceeded the 82.04 percent polling recorded during the 2021 Assembly elections.

The state is witnessing a closely contested election, with the BJP-led NDA seeking a third consecutive term, while the Congress is attempting to return to power after a decade.

Among constituencies, Dalgaon reported the highest turnout at 94.57 percent, whereas Amri recorded the lowest at 70.40 percent.

A total of 722 candidates are contesting in the single-phase election.

Polling began at 7 am and continued until 6 pm across 31,490 polling stations spread over 35 districts.

Kerala registers steady participation

In Kerala, voting for all 140 Assembly constituencies concluded at 6 pm, although voters present at polling stations before the deadline were allowed to cast their ballots.

The state recorded a turnout of 77.38 percent by 5 pm, over three percent higher than the 74.06 percent turnout in the 2021 Assembly elections.

Final figures are expected after all voters in the queues complete the voting process.

Puducherry records highest turnout

The Union Territory of Puducherry saw the highest voter participation among the three regions, with turnout crossing 89 percent.

Polling for 30 Assembly constituencies concluded at 6 pm, with provisions made for voters in queues to complete voting.

The NDA is aiming to retain power in the territory, while the Congress-led opposition bloc is seeking to unseat the AINRC-led government, focusing on governance and administrative issues during the campaign.
