Thiruvananthapuram/IBNS: The Bharatiya Janata Party has improved its vote share in Kerala by 3 percent and bagged a seat after its outreached to the southern state.

After close analysis, BJP has improved its vote share at the cost of Congress-led UDF and Left-led LDF.

Scripting history, the saffron party has registered one seat by bagging the Thrissur, which was won by BJP candidate Suresh Gopi.

In Thrissur, BJP's win led UDF to suffer a loss of 9 percent votes besides relegating to the third spot.

The BJP's vote share grew from 13 percent in 2019 to 16.68% in 2024.

BJP had contested in 16 seats while its ally BDJS fought on 4 others.

Meanwhile, the UDF bagged 18 out of 20 Kerala seats while LDF won 1 and the other by BJP.

Both UDF and LDF have suffered a decrease in their respective vote shares.

As compared to 2019 when its vote share was 47.48%, UDF registered 45.21% in 2024.

LDF's vote share fell by almost 3 percent from 36.29% in 2019 to 33.36% in 2024.

In Thiruvananthapuram, where Congress leader Shashi Tharoor won after a tough contest, BJP's Rajeev Chandrasekhar, an outgoing Union Minister, closed in by reducing the former's winning margin from 99,000 in 2019 to little over 16,000 in 2024.

In Attingal, former BJP state president V Muraleedharan offered a tough fight to the LDF and UDF polling 3,11,779 votes. The BJP's vote share improved from 24.97% to 31.64% in the seat.

The party's vote share has significantly grown in three seats- Alappuzha, Palakkad and Alathur.
