The West Agartala Police have achieved a major success in their ongoing anti-drug drive with the recovery of a large quantity of Cannabis (Ganja) from a vehicle in the Lake Chowmuhani area of the city.
Acting on a tip-off, police personnel from West Agartala police station conducted a search of a vehicle at Lake Chowmuhani. During the search, a substantial quantity of cannabis was recovered from inside the vehicle.
The vehicle has been seized in connection with the case, and police have initiated legal proceedings against those allegedly involved in the transportation of the contraband.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of West Agartala police station, Sanjit Sen said that the worth of the seized drugs is Rs. 96 lakh. According to police sources, the anti-drug drive against the transportation of narcotics and other illegal activities will continue in the coming days.
Following the seizure, police presence and surveillance have been intensified in the Lake Chowmuhani area.
Police are expected to provide further details regarding the exact quantity of cannabis recovered and the number of persons detained or arrested in connection with the case.
