Firing outside Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai home: 4 arrested, Bishnoi Gang link emerges
Mumbai/IBNS: Four people have been arrested in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai, media reports said on Sunday.
The accused were among five persons earlier detained from Pune. A court has remanded the four arrested individuals to police custody till February 5.
According to preliminary investigations, the accused have links with Shubham Lonkar, an alleged member of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. Lonkar is also an accused in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddique.
Soon after the firing incident, a social media post claimed Lonkar was behind the attack and also issued a threat, police said.
What happened?
At least five rounds were fired towards the first floor of the nine-storey residential building located in Mumbai’s Juhu area at around 12:45 am. Visuals from the spot showed that the glass of a gym inside the building was damaged due to the firing.
Police have registered a case of attempt to murder under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
