French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday ahead of his meeting with PM Narendra Modi, during which the two leaders will review progress in the India-France Strategic Partnership.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis visited the airport to welcome him.

After welcoming the President, Fadnavis wrote on X: "A very warm welcome to the President of France, H.E. Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron as they arrive in Mumbai!Maharashtra welcomes you!"

He said: "Wishing Hon President Macron and the entire French delegation a pleasant stay and a successful visit !"

Fadnavis said: " Hon Governor Acharya Devvrat ji, DCM Eknath Shinde ji, DCM Sunetratai Pawar, Ministers, officers too joined for the welcome."

Narendra Modi welcomes Macron

In his X post, Indian PM Narendra Modi welcomed Macron and said India is looking forward to his visit and advancing bilateral ties between the two nations to new heights.

Modi said: "I am confident that our discussions will further strengthen cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress."

Calling him a 'dear friend', Modi said: " See you in Mumbai and later in Delhi, my dear friend @EmmanuelMacron."

As per the Ministry of External Affairs website,  Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will also exchange views on issues of regional and global importance.

President Macron is on an official visit to India from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of PM Modi to participate in the AI Impact Summit hosted by India.
